Conservation of Iberian species
The Association ensures the conservation of these mammals, advising the authorities as well as the general public. It also publishes the Journal of Bat Research and Conservation on an annual basis which disseminates scientific studies of bats.
Update on how bats relate to the outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus
To this day, it has not been established that bats have been the source of the pandemic. Neither bats nor any other animals play any role whatsoever in the progress of the pandemic, which is based exclusively on transmission from person to person. The illegal trade and sale of wild animal species without sanitary controls are clear causal factors. In order to prevent future pandemics, the international community should resolutely step up its fight against this scourge to health and biodiversity.
Environmental outreach campaigns
SECEMU carries out numerous talks and other outreach activities aimed at informing and sensitizing the general public about the problems affecting bats and their beneficial role in ecosystems.
